Parker Variant Adjustable Safety Razor - Satin Chrome

So: I've been shaving with the Variant since 2017. Since then, I've had the chance to compare it with one of the most exalted (and expensive) adjustables on the market, and the Variant more than held its own. Parker didn't try to reinvent the wheel here - they simply paid close attention to the things that make the biggest difference both the quality and experience of a shave, and put all that in a well-made, well-balanced razor that consistently delivers, and at a non-ridiculous price. Highly recommended.

What a great shave. The blade gap might look big to the eyes, but there is not much exposure. So you get a clog-free shave and butter smooth, on lower settings you barely feel the blade but the razor is doing it's job. Adjustable from mild to a bit aggressive (not too aggressive though). For the price is even an amazing deal!

I've been using the razor for about 2 weeks. So far I'd say it is a very good razor. I haven't had any issues with cuts or a rough shave. As a matter of fact the first time I used it I was surprised at the smooth shave. I started on a setting of 1 but have now moved to a 2. It is a bit on the heavy side if you've been used to plastic junk!

This is the only razor that I have not been able to get equal blade exposure on both sides of the head. A number of my razors need a little help in doing this but the Variant will not allow it. It looks as though the center screw in the top plate is slightly lager than the two side studs and stops the blade from shifting to one side so as not to allow the proper setup. Some people may not notice it or it could be a defect with the one I received. It’s too bad because I like the razor otherwise. I like some of the improvements that were made over the Merkur Progress which is my second favorite razor. Unfortunately I won’t be using the Variant because the blade exposure issue is something I don’t care to work with.

I have been using a Parker 82R for quite a while now. Was happy but wanted something a tad more aggressive, so I figured that the Parker Variant would give me the best of both worlds. All I can say is WOW! Hands down this was the closest shave i’ve ever had, with zero irritation and not a single nick. I think Parker makes the best safety razors...and the Variant is the best of the best!

I ordered this safety razor switching from a pro fusion blade. I am soooo glad I made the switch. The shave takes longer but far more enjoyable. Thanks for the opportunity to own this beautiful utility tool. I like the size, the weight, and the adjustability. I am on to add more razors and brushes to my beginning collection.

The very first time I used this razor I bot a BBS shave with absolutely no irritation. I'm looking forward to using it and finding out which settings work best on each of my facial areas.

I might even call the Parker Variant the finest adjustable razor made today. Parker took everything from the lauded Merkur Progress and just made it so much better! From the handle and its sure feel grip, to the adjustment and correct calibration to the channels in the razors baseplate...everything is done just right including the weight. Perfect balance. I would also mention the wonderful feedback and how smooth this shaver is. The top caps coating really helps in this regard. I just purchased another one today. I like to give them to family members and friends who show interest in wet shaving. Highly recommended!

I own 5 DE razors,,, wait,, 6 because I just bought my second Variant as a spare,, it's that good. The weight, balance, finish and incremental adjustments make this the perfect DE razor,,, why are you still reading this,, go buy one,, you won't be disappointed. Parker nailed it with the Variant.

I have used every Gillette cartridge razor since the Trac2, and I am a recent convert to DE shaving. Purchased a Merkur 38c a couple of months ago, and frankly was slightly disappointed - took way too many passes to achieve a great shave. I did some research and then decided to give the Parker Variant a try. If you have decent technique, dial this thing up to 4 or 5 and then be amazed by the results! Remember to use light touch and almost no pressure.
